DCRST History
What began as a desert toy in 1980, has grown into a full-fledged racing division throughout the United States.
In 1983, there were enough cars in Phoenix, Arizona to put on exhibition races at local tracks, with their first point season occurring in 1987.
Currently, there are over 50 Dwarf Car Racing Associations in over 35 states. Dwarf cars have also been introduced into Scotland, Australia, Aruba, Canada and other countries. There were over 3500 cars nationwide in 1991.
Dwarf cars are 5/8 scale American built sedan and coupes built between 1928 and 1948. The wheelbase is 73 inches with a maximum width of 60 inches. They are powered by 4 stroke motorcycle engines with a maximum displacement of 1000cc. Tires are 13 inch tires.
The Texas Dwarf Car Association was formed in 1991 starting with just three cars. They built it to over 100 cars located from Dallas/Ft. Worth to Houston to Corpus Christi and ran at 17 different tracks.
